Singer KK`s demise on May 31, 2022 came as a shock to the entire nation. Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, has sung in languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati. The much-loved singer performed a concert at a college festival in Kolkata on May 31, 2002. After the concert he returned to his hotel and started feeling unwell. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. He had suffered a cardiac arrest and was 53-years-old. 

After his demise, speaking to mid-day.com, filmmaker Kabir Khan recalled his memories with the famous singer. The two knew each other from their days at the Delhi University. Kabir referred to his college mate as his lucky charm. Kabir says, “KK and I go back a long way! Every film of mine has a song by KK, he was my lucky charm. He was an extremely close friend and we would keep planning to meet but years just go by because he was busy and so was I. When someone goes away you realize you should have taken out time!”
