Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who is known for his power-packed performances and unconventional roles doesn't mince his words when it comes to describing the current status of Indian cinema.

From playing a blind man in ‘Sparsh’ to the father of an illegitimate child in 'Masoom', he did justice to all the characters played by him on-screen. He has been honoured with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awards for his remarkable work in the film industry.

Naseeruddin acted in movies such as ‘Hum Paanch’, ‘Nishant’, ‘Aakrosh’, ‘Sparsh’, ‘Mirch Masala’, ‘Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai’, ‘Bhavni Bhavai’, ‘Junoon’, ‘Mandi’, ‘Ardh Satya’, ‘Katha’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Ijaazat’, ‘Jalwa’, ‘Ghulami’, ‘Mohra’,’ Monsoon Wedding’ among others. Every time, he took up any role, be it commercial or unconventional, he proved his acting prowess.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai, he expressed his admiration for Korean and Thai cinema and compared it to movies on the Indian front. He said, “Korean films are better than Bollywood films... We keep claiming that the whole world is watching Bollywood films. First of all, I hate the word 'Bollywood. Just like Indian food is gaining fame worldwide due to its inherent qualities, Bollywood films are said to be gaining fame. However, I guarantee that this bubble will burst one day because these films lack substance and are made with motives everyone is aware of."

For those unversed, multiple Bollywood films have been inspired by South Korean blockbusters. These include Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Dhamaka’ (The Terror Live), Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe’ (The Outlaws), and Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Ek Villain’ (I Saw the Devil) to name a few.

Naseeruddin Shah was last seen in the web series ‘Showtime’ starring Emraan Hashmi, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Vijay Raaz, and Shriya Saran.

Meanwhile, on the work front, he will be seen with Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sharib Hashmi in a film titled 'Ul Jal Jalool Ishq'. The film will be produced by designer Manish Malhotra under his production banner Stage 5 Production. The music for the film will be given by Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj.
