Nick Jonas jokes about performing in India for the first time: 'The sangeet doesn't count'

After the roaring success of the inaugural edition of Asia’s largest multi-genre music festival hosted in India, Lollapalooza India returned with an even more epic second edition in Mumbai. The raised decibels and increased tempo coupled with an unparalleled world-class experience on day one, set the stage for yet another phenomenal edition. The Mahalaxmi Race Course turned into a captivating haven for all music enthusiasts, as global icons and pop sensations, Jonas Brothers did not ‘Hesitate’ before ‘Burnin’ Up’ the newly revamped BUDX stage. In anticipation for the much-loved brothers, the audience went into a frenzy and broke into a sing-along to Priyanka Chopra’s hit single Gallan Goodiyaan before the act went live.


As the band took the stage, Nick Jonas addressed fans laying bare their excitement around performing in India for the first time ever, while jokingly reminiscing about his own sangeet performance. The trio kept the crowds singing along in unison as they rolled one hit after the other including ‘S.O.S., ‘Waffle House’, ‘Cake By The Ocean’, ‘Sucker’ and more.

The highlight of the act was when Indian rapper King joined Nick Jonas on stage to groove to his chart-topper ‘Maan Meri Jaan’. The quintessential 'national jiju', as the crowds fondly called him, was greeted with ‘Love You Nick’, ‘Don’t be Jealous Priyanka’ and ‘We are a Sucker for you, Jonas Bros’ posters high up in the air pumped up the unmatched energy.

Unconventional pop, alternative, electro-pop singer-songwriter, Halsey made a smashing debut in the country. Cheering the crowd on, she thanked them for their wholehearted support especially calling out her wide fan base in India being one of the largest after her home base. With her stunning sound, unparalleled energy and a visual performance treat, she belted out chart-toppers ‘Now Or Never’, ‘Without Me’, ‘Closer’, ‘Graveyard’ leaving the crowd stunned. 

Actress Taapsee Pannu, director Abhishek Kapoor with wife Pragya Kapoor, singers Jonita Gandhi and Lisa Mishra, actor Jackie Shroff, heartthrob Aditya Roy Kapur, influencer Raj Shamani, internet sensation Orry, singer & songwriter Prateek Kuhad and Ankush Bahuguna were seen enjoying the performances on day one of Lollapalooza India 2024.
