The conversation around rising entourage costs of celebrities on films sets has gained some steam in recent times. The conversation started gaining momentum as several big-budget films in the recent past failed to impress at the box office. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui who has often spoken about the shortcomings in Bollywood shared his opinion on the same.

Nawazuddin said that the rising costs aren't something new but has always been there. He said that he has heard of celebrities throwing tantrums on sets. "There are many unnecessary demands that actors have, they want everything lavish. I have even heard that some actors have five vanity vans — one for gymming, one for cooking, one for eating, bathing, practising lines, and what not. Yeh paagalpan hai. koi paagal hi hoga jo paanch vanity van leke chalta hai.”

He further took a dig at these actors who make special demands on sets. "Why would any actor want to increase the cost of the production? This is absolutely wrong. Put money in films instead, that would be better [and wiser] thing to do. Jo inn nawaabon ko shaunk hain woh toh film mein nawaabon ke bhi nahi honge,” the senior actor said.

Talking about himself and if he engages in such demands, Siddiqui said, "I just wish that I should work well and nothing else. Meri toh aisi koi demands nahi hoti. Production ke time se pehle main khada hota hoon shoot ke liye.”

In an interview with Indian Express, Siddiqui also revealed why he does not have an entourage. "I don’t like it. For me, one thing is clear, you have fixed a certain amount as your fees then you should do it in that much, yeh jo taam jhaam badhate hai, it is not being used in the film, toh koi matlab nahi uska (all this fuss is useless)."

He added, "I have always stayed away from it because humaari filmein itni badi budget ki hoti hi nahi hai (my films have never been of such big budgets), frankly speaking. Even if the budget is big I stay away from it because it is not the right thing na. It is not good for your field."

Siddiqui is currently gearing up for the release of his Zee 5 film 'Rautu Ka Raaz'. The actor recently also completed 25 years in the industry as an actor. Reflecting on his journey, he has only gratitude to express. "Jo maine socha tha, usse bhi upar mujhe uparwaale ne diya hai. I am thankful to my directors who gave my every kind of role to play,” he stated.
