Knowing that the film industry can benefit from fresh voices, filmmaker Farah Khan, actor-producer Neha Dhupia and casting director Mukesh Chhabra have teamed up to judge Speak Up Creators. As part of the upcoming online talent hunt, social media users will have to upload their videos, showcasing their talent — ranging from singing to acting, direction to fashion designing — on the video-sharing platform, Roposo. The best content creators will not only win prize money but will also be given a break in the industry.

A chance conversation between Dhupia and Khan led them to kick off the talent hunt. They felt that social media is a treasure trove of sparkling content, and wanted to streamline it. “While videos displaying any skill-set related to filmmaking are welcome, lip-sync and mimicry won’t be allowed. The trio will select the best entries and announce the winners on social media,” reveals a source.

For Dhupia, this is her way of giving back to the industry. She says, “During last year’s lockdown, I would see what song or dance moves were trending, and used to ape them. If given an opportunity, there are many out there who can generate original content that will be loved by people. The winners will get an opportunity to work with Farah and Mukesh on their projects.” While participants can send their entries in the coming weeks, the winners’ announcement may be delayed owing to the current situation. “We hoped to have the finale in May, but that may be pushed ahead,” she adds.
