Nushrratt Bharuccha made her Bollywood debut with Jai Santoshi Maa in 2006 and became a popular name in the entertainment industry with films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama 1 and 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and Dream Girl. She also acted in the 2013 drama, Aakash Vani.

This was directed by Luv Ranjan and dealt with the story of a girl who gets married to an abusive man and sacrifices the boy she loved in college. The actress had to deal with a gamut of emotions in the film and she recently spoke to Bollywood Life about it and what happened when she saw the film in a cinema hall.

Talking about preparing for the role, she said, “I used to lock myself in the vanity van and the entire unit used to wait because channeling these kinds of emotions required this kind of a prep.” When asked about how it felt to have finally made it, this is what she had to say.

“You know all the people, not only in the profession but family, relationship wise, they all doubted it, they all questioned it. And the toughest part was to stand in front of them everyday and still have that faith and unwavering confidence that it will happen.” She then narrated an incident of how she had to deal with four boys who were watching Aakash Vani in a cinema hall and she was there too.

She said, “I was sitting in a theater in Delhi and there was a bunch of four guys sitting behind me and I was with my friend’s parents. They wanted to watch the movie so I took them. And the four boys had live commentary on every scene and every dialogue. They would just thrash it. They would pass snide comments about my looks, my body, and I didn’t know what to do.”

She added, “For me, those four were my audience and they were judging me and I was like, ‘Am I really that bad?’ So this is my biggest fear that people will not like what I do.”
