Akshay Kumar's mother Aruna Bhatia passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday morning. Her last rites were attended by Akshay's friends and colleagues including Rohit Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vipul Shah

Akshay Kumar's mother, Aruna Bhatia, passed away on Wednesday morning in Mumbai. She was admitted to the ICU unit at a hospital here.


Film director Rohit Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh, Vipul Shah, Bhushan Kumar were among those who attended Aruna Bhatia's last rites in Juhu, Mumbai.

Akshay Kumar had shared an update regarding his mother's health on social media yesterday. He wrote, "Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help."

Vipul Shah and Bhushan Kumar attended the last rites

This morning, Akshay Kumar announced the death of his mother on social media. He wrote, "She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti."

Kumar was earlier in the UK where he was shooting for his upcoming movie 'Cinderella', produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by Ranjit M Tewari.
