On Friday, a post on Poonam Pandey's Instagram claimed that the actress had passed away due to cervical cancer, shocking her fans. A day later, Poonam Pandey took to her Instagram to reveal that she is alive. In this new video, she spreads awareness about cervical cancer, saying, 'I am alive. I didn't die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those thousands of women who have lost their lives due to Cervical Cancer. It is not because they couldn't do anything about it, but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is curable.'

However, Poonam's way of spreading awareness did not go down well with netizens, who called the gimmick 'pathetic' and a 'mockery' of people who have lost loved ones to the illness. Several celebrities called her out for such a publicity stunt. Now, Babil Khan, who has lost his father, actor Irrfan Khan, to cancer, took to his Instagram account and called out the actress for her act.

The Qala actor shared, 'I don't know what the f**k that was about Poonam Pandey's demise, but it just feels wrong. I'm trying not to care, but it is making me feel really angry. Awareness can be spread; faking statements of death should not be something that we rely upon to do so as individuals in a collective society. (Bro long story short, this is the worst way to raise awareness about cancer, and my intuition roars sensing malice.). PLEASE DON'T F**K WITH CANCER AWARENESS.'

Babil's father, Irrfan Khan, who passed away at the age of 53, was undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine cancer. Irrfan's death has left countless fans reeling and has left a void in the Hindi film industry that's unlikely to be filled in the coming years. The Paan Singh Tomar actor is survived by his wife, writer Sutapa Sikdar, and two sons, Babil and Ayan. Irrfan entered Bollywood in 1988 with a small role in Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay. He gained widespread critical acclaim for his acting in Maqbool, The Namesake, A Mighty Heart, Paan Singh Tomar, Life of Pi, The Lunchbox, Haider, Gunday, Piku, Talvar, and Hindi Medium, among others.
