Shaan and Akriti Kakar are set to mark the onset of the Durga puja festivities with a track titled Thomkiya thomkiya. For Kakar, working on the song with Shaan was only fitting, given the vast amount of work they have done in the Bengali music industry.

“[Shaan and I] developed a bond while working on [a singing reality show], and that resulted in this collaboration. Thomkiya thomkiya is an original composition whose hook line is [inspired by] a popular Bengali folk song called Komolaye nretto koee. There’s no better time to release it than now, when everyone is in the mood to celebrate,” Kakar says.
The track is her first original release in three years, and has been composed by Suvam Moitra. “He has recorded [the song] with multiple unusual live instruments. That is the USP of the number — it has been created [with] live [sounds]; no programming has been employed. Manoj Yadav has worked on the lyrics.”
