Priyanka Chopra enters into the 21st year of her career in the entertainment industry. She was crowned the Miss World in 2000 and made her Bollywood debut with The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy and was then seen in films like Andaaz, Aitraaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Don, Fashion, Dostana, Kaminey, Agneepath, 7 Khoon Maaf, Barfi, and Bajirao Mastani.

She made her mark in the West with the television series Quantico that came out in 2016 and was also seen with Dwayne Johnson in the 2017 film Baywatch. Her last appearance was in Netflix’s The White Tiger. In an interview with Elle, the star got candid about continuously working for the first 15 years of her career, being a nomad, and what happened when the lockdown happened last year.

She said, “I’ve been in hotels, rentals, Airbnbs for almost a decade,’ she says, wearily. ‘As soon as I settled into my house in Mumbai, I moved to America for Quantico (the ABC drama series of which she was the star). As soon as I settled into my house in New York, I moved to LA. I’ve always been very nomadic, but lockdown sort of gave me that time.”

She added, “I would never have had six months at home, ever. I haven’t had that in 20 years! For the first 15 years of my career, I [just worked]... on birthdays, Diwali, New Years, it didn’t matter. I did five movies a year [and] was always on location. I didn’t have a day off. So for the first couple of weeks, I was like, “Yeah! Staycation! A break!” But, after that, as someone who’s always on the go, I just put all my focus into the book.’”

For the uninitiated, Chopra is gearing up for sharing her story with the world in the form of her memoir, Unfinished.
