Priyanka Chopra has been on a whirlwind tour herself alongside her husband, Nick Jonas’s musical tour. The ‘Citadel’ actress has been joining the Jonas brothers on various legs of the tour and even brought their sweet daughter, Malti Marie, to one of their shows.

Now, News18 reports suggest that Priyanka Chopra is taking up the role of the host for the opening night of the upcoming MAMI film festival in India, which is ready to kick off this week. The actress, positively oozing with excitement, took to Instagram to confirm that she’s inbound to Mumbai. That’s right, ‘Desi Girl’ has confirmed her journey to India.

Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram stories to share a picture of her hand holding her Indian passport and a boring pass. The actress captioned the snap, “It’s been a minute Mumbai (heart eye emoji).” Expressing her excitement she wrote, “Cannot wait (smiling and raised hands emoji).”

The Opening Night film at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival this year will be The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta. The film is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who also stars in the film. The film will be screened on October 27 at the NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre), following a successful World Premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival. The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will run from October 27 to November 5 this year.

Director Hansal Mehta’s moody procedural is an exploration of grief, our longing for closure, and captures the human cost of our polarised times. The story follows cop and single mother Jasmeet Bhamra (Kareena Kapoor Khan), who recently lost her child in a shooting spree, as she transfers to a market town north of London and is assigned the case of a missing child.

Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is back with its on-ground edition after three years, complete with a new vision to host the world’s biggest and most prestigious South Asian Film Festival. The festival is focused on building an ecosystem for new cinematic voices, facilitating the exchange of ideas, collaborations, and business opportunities, while bringing the best of world cinema to Mumbai. The festival will be held from October 27 to November 5.
