R Balki has roped in veteran South cinematographer PC Sreeram for his upcoming untitled psychological thriller. Sreeram, who has shot all of Balki’s films, is “eagerly waiting to start work.” As Balki treads into a new genre with the film, starring Malayalam heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan, the cinematographer is looking forward to weaving his magic through the lens for the movie that combines mystery, action, drama and paranoia. Earlier, Salmaan and Sreeram worked together on Mani Ratnam’s Tamil romantic drama, OK Kanmani (2015).

The filmmaker is said to be undecided about the female lead. As he is keen to film against the backdrop of heavy rain for the thriller, he plans to shoot during the monsoon. Depending on the prevailing situation, Balki is looking at rolling the film in July in the city. The film marks Salmaan’s third outing in Bollywood after Karwaan (2018) and The Zoya Factor (2019).
