Sources are now linking this plot to a real-life situation that took place some years ago. It seems that Ayushmann’s character is inspired by the life of one of the scores of employees of Kingfisher Airlines who were fired some years ago. The film is apparently centred around this character and the problems he faced post his loss of job.
