Rohit Shetty on why he made Cirkus

In an interview with ANI, Rohit Shetty dished about the Ranveer Singh starrer 'Circkus' that faced failure. Talking about why he made the movie in the first place, Rohit Shetty revealed, "It was made during the pandemic when things were changing. Today, if I have to make that subject, I will not touch it. Sooryavanshi was not released, the Indian Police Force was about to start, and we had an eight-month gap because the pandemic was going on."

Shetty further revealed, "So what should we do? Workers were sitting at home and we had this script for the longest time, a simple, small film. I thought, ‘Chalo bana dete hain. Workers bhi busy rahenge aur hum bhi busy rahenge (Let’s make it. Workers will stay busy and we will keep busy too). It was a studio-based film, with no cars flying, no action, no heroic entry and all", he added.

Rohit Shetty on Cirkus's failure

Previously, while talking with India Today, Rohit Shetty said that he makes sure he surrounds himself with people who are always honest with him. He further added that there’s absolutely no point in shying away from either his successes or his failures. “I make sure to surround myself with people who are honest with me. So, when a film doesn’t do well, I know it. Hence, I have always believed that both my successes and failures are mine. There is no point shying away from it. When a Singham or a Golmaal did well, that was also mine, so when a Zameen, a Dilwale or a Cirkus failed, that was also mine. I don’t see a point in blaming anything else. I know what we did. We, obviously, went wrong somewhere. It was made right after Sooryavanshi and in the middle of the (Covid-19) pandemic for the workers. It was a small film meant for the audience of that time.”
