Last month, Shahid Kapoor was shooting in Uttarakhand for Gowtam Tinnanuri’s sports drama, Jersey. He had also shot for Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) in the hilly terrrain. Saddened by the loss of lives in the state due to the glacier burst, the actor took to social media and wrote, “Prayers for all those affected in Uttarakhand. A beautiful state with wonderful people. Have shot there many times.”


A glacier broke in the Tapovan-Reni area of Chamoli District of Uttarakhand on Sunday, which led to massive flooding in Dhauliganga and Alaknanda rivers and damaged houses and the nearby Rishiganga power project. As many as 26 bodies have been recovered from different areas that were affected by the glacier burst in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, while 197 people are still missing, said State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) on Monday. SDRF in a statement said that people who were reported missing after the glacier burst and have survived the tragedy are coming forward to report their presence to the administration.


On the work front, Shahid is waiting for the release of his upcoming film "Jersey". The upcoming sports drama is a Hindi remake of a Telugu hit of the same name. The Hindi version is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had also helmed the 2019 original. The story is about a talented but failed cricketer named Arjun, who decides to make a comeback in his late thirties and play for India, in order to fulfil his son's wish. Till now, the film has been shot in Uttarakhand and Chandigarh.
