Sonam Wangchuk, on whom Aamir Khan's character in 3 Idiots was based has shared his perspective on the Rajkumar Hirani-directorial

Rajkumar Hirani's directorial '3 Idiots' is one of the most iconic and memorable films to come from Hindi cinema. Starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Boman Irani among others, the film struck a chord with the audience and left a significant impact internationally. It also connected with the audience in countries like China and South Korea. The film, especially Aamir KHan's character of Rancho was inspired by the life of engineer, innovator and education reformist Sonam Wangchuk.

Sonam Wangchuk, in a recent interview with The Lallantop shared his perspective on '3 Idiots'. He also said that he did not completely relate to the character portrayed by Aamir Khan. He said, “Yes, I have watched the film. It was a nice film with a good message.”
“Main toh kya kisi aur ne kaha ki aap ye boliye ki film mein jo kirdar dikha rahi hai mein unse bahut zyaada khoobsurat hu. Mein kaise inse jodo khud ko (What do I say but somebody else told me to say that I am a lot more beautiful than the character shown in the film. So how do I attach myself with that character?)”
3 Idiots, released on December 25, 2009, is a Bollywood comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi as three engineering students navigating through the pressures of academia and societal expectations while pursuing their passions. As per reports, the movie, made on a budget of Rs 55 crores, went on to become a blockbuster by earning a total collection of Rs 400.61 crores.
3 Idiots reunion:
Last year, the three lead actors of 3 Idiots reunited to promote Sharman's Gujarati film 'Congratulations'. Taking to Instagram, Sharman shared a video which he captioned, "3 idiots are promoting "congratulations" film which is releasing today."
the video, the three actors could be seen on a cricket pitch and dressed in matching red uniforms. Sharman tried to speak about his Gujarati film 'Congratulations' and was interrupted by Madhavan who came up to him and asked about his film. After that, he again tries to speak about his film and gets interrupted by Aamir Khan, and later both the actors get confused about the film's title and instead think that Sharman is congratulating them.
