Hopping aboard the YouTube bandwagon, Bollywood musician Suresh Wadkar has launched a devotional music channel, which will also promote the students of his music school Ajivasan. Suresh Wadkar Bhakti, an extension of Wadkar’s “obedience to the Almighty”, will kick off the channel with the Maruti Stotra. “The pandemic gave me time to work on the channel, and share healing music with the world. The channel is my tribute to God, in my voice, which is gifted by him. There will be collaborators including the students of my school, and other renowned music directors. The stotras, which are passed down from one generation to another, have been composed in a way that is distinct. The reason that people choose one rendition of the Gayatri mantra over another is due to the vocal and tonal qualities, which appeal to their senses. Ours aims to be therapeutic. Music heals, helps us forget our pain, even during the pandemic, and encourages us to embrace the universe.”

Wadkar hopes to utilise the opportunity to further his duties as a teacher. “I should bring out the best in each student and give them the opportunities that they deserve. We have dedicated channels for them, and for other budding talents. In this stotra too, one composition has been made by Padmanabh, one of our students. We only expect that those who come to learn from us be dedicated. Our teachers are capable of honing the skills of those who are.”
