She acted in a bunch of films post her pageant win, but took a long break after becoming a mother for the second time. How did she make her comeback with Aarya? Sushmita says she personally made phone calls to various streaming platforms to ask for work. “I called up the head of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hotstar, and said, ‘My name is Sushmita Sen, I’m an actor, used to be one anyway, and I’d like to come back to work,” she reveals.
Are there multiple reasons why she stayed away from acting for so long? “If you don’t go and observe life, participate in it, you don’t become a better actor,” Sushmita insists.
After making her comeback with the OTT project, Aarya, Sushmita took on the lead role in another show – Taali – where she portrayed a real-life transgender person – Gauri Sawant. But could someone else from that gender been a better choice for that role? “I was not okay with Taali, till I heard Gauri Sawant wants me,” she reveals.
