It’s no news that Sushmita Sen is the first ever Miss Universe from India. The historic moment happened on May 21, 1994, when she made the nation proud and etched her name in history. It was truly a brush with nostalgia for the actress. She shared a throwback picture of herself, mostly from that year, and looked back at what remains one of the most celebrated moments in an actor’s career. She wrote, “Have you ever stared at the impossible & thanked God for giving you the opportunity to make it possible? I have!!! To my Motherland INDIA 🇮🇳...Happpyyyyy 27th Anniversary of India’s first ever victory at #MissUniverse in Manila #philippines. That early morning on 21st May 1994, not only changed an 18 yr olds life forever...it made History!!" [SIC]

In these 27 years, Sushmita Sen has often spoken about that life-changing moment on the stage and the euphoria that followed the next day. And two years later, in 1996, she made her Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s Dastak.

She then went on to do films like Sirf Tum, Hindustan Ki Kasam, Main Hoon Na, Biwi No. 1, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Aankhen, Chingari, Samay, No Problem. She made a comeback to acting with last year’s critically acclaimed series, Aarya, whose season 2 has already gone on floors.

Sen managed to arrange some oxygen for hospitals in Delhi. On Friday, the actor thanked netizens for helping her transport the cylinders to the needy. “The oxygen cylinders are finally en route to Delhi Hospital from Mumbai,” she tweeted.

A viral video about the oxygen crisis in the capital made Sush ask netizens how she could send the life-saving supplies to the COVID-affected. She tweeted, "This is deeply heart breaking...oxygen crisis is everywhere. I have managed to organise a few oxygen cylinders for this hospital but have no way to transport it to Delhi from Mumbai...please help me find a way."
