This Album is The Dasgupta Sisters’ tribute to their late mother Smt. Manjushree Dasgupta, who was a renowned classical singer from Kolkata. She performed regularly for All India Radio, Doordarshan and in various music conferences and festivals and shared the stage with the legendary Bismillah Khan Sahab, Pt. Jasraj, Smt. Shobha Gurtu et al. She was one of the only two female disciples of Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan Sahab (Padma Vibhushan) from Rampur Sahaswan Gharana.
As youngsters, we learnt music from our mother. Some of our oldest and fondest memories of her were seeing mom singing Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, Tarana etc. and doing regular practice at home with the stalwarts of music like Pt Swapan Shib (tabla), Mehfooz Khan (harmonium), Pt Ramesh Mishra (Sarangi), Probodh Bhattacheryaa (harmonium).
