India is witnessing one of its worst crises as hospitals struggle with shortage of oxygen and lack of beds amid the surging COVID-19 cases. As not-for-profit organisations and citizens step up their efforts to aid the healthcare system in their own way, singer Tulsi Kumar has joined forces with Mission Josh for the Mission 5000 initiative that aims to raise Rs 5 crore to purchase oxygen concentrators. Through her social media handles, the singer has urged fans to donate on the crowdfunding platform, Ketto.

“The initiative aims to provide free-of-cost oxygen concentrators to the COVID-19 patients who are less critical and can be treated at home. The idea is to help patients at home so that hospital beds can be saved for the severely affected. With the Rs 5 crore goal campaign, we can impact 5,000 lives,” says Kumar. While their primary focus is to help the ICU-at-home services, the foundation has also tied up with hospitals across the country. “Once the impact is made, we will donate the concentrators to hospitals and NGOs so that the cycle can continue.” The singer has built a cross-network of NGOs, enabling the foundation to partner with Sanjeevani — Life Beyond Cancer. Through this collaboration, cancer patients who test positive for the virus will be provided medical attention at their home. Additionally, Ladli Foundation, another not-for-profit organisation will train focus on providing oxygen concentrators to Delhi cops who have contracted the virus.
