Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar’s fans were up-in-arms against a social media user who criticised the legendary singer and called her ‘overrated’. “Indians have been brainwashed into thinking that she has a good voice... nobody wanted to cross her path because of the power she wielded,” wrote the user. Though a few netizens agreed to the controversial tweet, Adnan Sami took on the troll and posted, “Bandar kya jaane  adrak ka swaad.” Along with the singer, several B-Town folk rose to the veteran singer’s defence.

Have a look at his tweet right here:

The legendary singer's achievements are as unparalleled as her illustrious career. She was awarded the Bharat Ratna for her contribution to Indian Cinema, thus making her the second only vocalist to be bestowed upon with the highest Honour in the country. She has also been hailed as the Nightingale of India. For the Millennial, who are now allured and attracted to the Western culture and pop music, they may not understand the depth of music and its power of seduction.

She wasn’t merely here to stay, but conquer the world of music and melody with her hypnotising vocals. Her aura was as intimidating as her voice was alluring, she was a domineering force, and could never be shrunk or silenced by her peers or contemporaries. She was unarguably the biggest name in the business at that point, and charged a higher remuneration than the actors she gave her voices to. It was unheard and historic. The second seed of creating history was planted.
