About the wedding

Dia Mirza got married to businessman Vaibhav in February 2021, and a few months later, on May 14, 2021, they welcomed a baby boy named Avyaan Azaad Rekhi. After the wedding, the actress posed for the paparazzi and was seen wearing a stunning red zari work saree, completed with a red dupatta and traditional wedding jewellery. Her green bangles were a highlight of her ethereal look. Dia Mirza tied her hair in a bun adorned with gajra, which complemented her elaborate wedding ensemble. Vaibhav, the groom, was dressed in a white kurta churidar, white jacket, and a golden dupatta.

The wedding was an intimate affair with only close friends and relatives of the couple in attendance. Industry colleagues like Aditi Rao Hydari, Jackky Bhagnani and Gautam Gupta were clicked at the wedding.

Dia Mirza's work front

Dia Mirza appeared in the film "Dhak Dhak" alongside Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanjana Sanghi. Directed by Tarun Dudeja, the adventure film revolves around a road trip embarked upon by a group of girls. In an exclusive conversation with Mid-day.com, she said, "I was super excited when I heard I had to ride a motorbike in Dhak Dhak. It would mean that I could overcome a fear, and also fulfill a lifelong dream,” says Dia Mirza, who at 41, learned how to ride a geared two-wheeler for the road trip movie.

Striding the two-wheeler revived memories of Mirza’s late father. She was born in Hyderabad to a German father and a Bengali mother; Frank Handrich passed away when she was just nine years old. “I remember sitting with dad on his bike, holding him,” she says, “I was very young then, and ever since he passed, I’ve wanted to ride. But I’ve never even tried… maybe I was scared. So, this was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. It was also a powerful story about women searching for freedom, so it all tied in well together.”

Additionally, Dia will feature in the upcoming social drama "Bheed," alongside Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar.
