Taapsee pens foreword for Changemakers that chronicles inspiring stories of 11 women

Word from the wise

Taapsee Pannu

Through her movies, Taapsee Pannu — along with other brave women in the industry — has changed the narrative for women in Bollywood. Her latest release, Rashmi Rocket, is a prime example.

Understandably then, she is the perfect choice to pen the foreword for Almas Virani and Sweta Samota’s book, Changemakers, which looks at 11 inspiring women who brought a change in society. “The day you feel your voice doesn’t matter anymore, go through a few pages of this book. You will know that you see a better society today because these women [raised] their voice,” says Pannu, urging women to believe in their individuality.

From Cassandra Mendonsa Nazareth who has created livelihoods for tribal women, to Jincy Varghese who played a crucial role in changing the maternity leave policy in India, the book has highlighted the efforts of these pioneers. Author Virani, a public speaking and podcast coach, says, “If we set our mind to it, we can create change.” Samota seconds her, stating, “Their stories are important and should be heard.”
