World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10 annually. On this occasion, Aamir Khan and his daughter Ira Khan shot a special video message for their fans and followers. In the video, Aamir and Ira educated people about the importance of seeking therapy and promoted mental health awareness.

The father-daughter duo said in Hindi, "To learn mathematics, we go to school or to a teacher, or to a tuition teacher. If we need a haircut, we go to a salon or a shop where a person trained in that job cuts our hair. If there's furniture work at home or plumbing work in the bathroom, we go to the person who knows how to do that job, or if we're sick, we go to the doctor."

Aamir and Ira took the help of the video to normalise seeking professional help. The superstar shared, "In life, there are many tasks that we cannot do ourselves, and we need the help of someone who knows that work. But we make such decisions very easily, without any shame or hesitation. If there's carpentry work, where do we go? To a carpenter. If we're not feeling well, it's obvious we'll go to the doctor. Similarly, when we need mental or emotional help, we should go to a person who can help us without hesitation and who is trained and professional."

He concluded by saying, "And friends, my daughter Ira and I have been benefiting from therapy for the past several years. And if you feel that you are also going through mental or emotional difficulties and there is some tension or stress, then you can also find a person who is professional, trained, and can help you. There is no shame in this."

In a previous interview with ETimes, Ira said, "Depression is a little complicated. It is partly genetic, partly psychological, and social. In my case, it is partly genetic. There is a history of mental health issues in my family on my mom and dad’s side. My therapist said that one of the trigger points was my parents, who handled their divorce as well as they could at that point."
