Brad Pitt added another accolade to his trophy cabinet by scooping the coveted Best Actor prize at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards on Jan 9.

The 48-year-old actor, who also landed a best actor honour at California's Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday, attended the Manhattan ceremony with his partner Angelina Jolie and picked up the trophy for his roles in 'Moneyball' and 'The Tree of Life'.
Silent movie 'The Artist' also continued its success, being named Best Picture, while its maker, Michel Hazanavicius, landed the Best Director nod.
Meryl Streep was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady', and Pitt's 'The Tree of Life' co-star Jessica Chastain garnered the Best Supporting Actress award, Contactmusic reported.
Best Supporting Actor went to Albert Brooks for his role in 'Drive'. Other winners included Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin (Best Screenplay for Moneyball), Emmanuel Lubezki (Best Cinematographer for The Tree of Life) and Raoul Ruiz, who landed the night's Special Award.
