Theron, who has appeared in low-budget pictures such as North Country, In the Valley of Elah and The Burning Plain, was handed the prize by Patton Oswalt, her co-star in new movie Young Adult, Contactmusic reported. "I never feel worthy of these things, so thank you to Variety, thank you," she said while receiving the award.
