Peter Dinklage says he was quite nervous to get on the sets of X-Men: Days of Future Past. “I knew that this was the seventh film in the series and I knew that it was a great franchise. My greatest fear was making a wrong move and bringing it all down. The best part of this film is that it has a great ensemble and each piece is part of the larger puzzle.

I was nervous initially, but later I was alright after I walked into this set of talented people,” he says.

Dinklage says that Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique is one of this favourite mutants in the film. In his trademark witty style, he quips, “Mystique is the pivotal character. And Jennifer plays the complex role so well; she even went blue for that. Her personality shines through it and you forget that she is wearing very little.”

The actor, famous for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in the TV show, Game of Thrones, says that he goes out of his way to do different things in a place where it is easy to get pigeonholed. “I am here for the joy of being an actor. I don’t want to bore anyone or myself by doing the same things again. When actors get successful, they are pigeonholed into the same kind of roles and that is kind of unfortunate. I am sure one can make a good deal of money out of that and maybe I am being cynical, but I don’t like putting myself through that. I like each job to be different. For instance, my next project is an Adam Sandler comedy, it is so different from X-Men and The Hunger Games.”

Ask him if, after having played several ‘smart’ characters, he is playing a dumb man for a change in this comedy, and he replies in the positive. “Yeah, guess what, he is not very smart,” he says.

Talking about time travel in the latest X-Men film, Dinklage says that he would love to go back to the late ’60s and the early ’70s. “I was a baby then, but I wish I was an adult at that time when the music revolution was happening. I am crazy about music; I am a big Beatles fan. I would also like to go back to the time when dinosaurs walked the earth as back then, everything was lush green and wild; this was way before we came and put up shopping malls,” he points out.
