Speaking to a radio station, the 25-year-old revealed that she was so disturbed after the backlash over alleged ‘cultural appropriation’ that it was affecting her career, adding that she was really terrified that she would have to leave America, a website reports.

The singer further said that the jabs about her music and her race, from people within showbiz and outside the circuit made her suicidal. "Sometimes I did. Sometimes I would drive through the canyons to get to my horses and I would be like, ‘What if I just kept driving off the canyon?’ Sometimes, I would feel like that," she said.

"It was the people in the industry who would be like, ‘oh, this is it for your career now, so what are you gonna do?’ And you know, I live in this country on a work visa, so if I don’t have a job,   that means I go home, and my whole life is here, so that’s a lot for somebody to deal with. I didn’t really feel like I did anything to be deserving of that much hate.

" However, she said it was her fiance Nick Young, who helped her through the difficult time.
