The 33-year-old has teamed up with drag artist Kalup Linzy to create new duo Kalup and Franco.
The odd couple became friends after the actor invited Linzy to perform on US TV soap General Hospital during Franco's stint on the show.
The 127 Hours star will release his first EP, Turn It Up, next month, and Franco and Linzy plan to release videos featuring celebrity guests to accompany all their songs.
