Madonna jumps to Sean Penn's defence, submits declaration in court that her former husband never assaulted her during their four-year marriage
Madonna has stood up for former husband Sean Penn in his defamation lawsuit against Lee Daniels and has made a court declaration that he never physically abused her during their famously tumultuous marriage. According to court documents, the 57-year-old songstress said that while they certainly had more than one heated argument during their marriage, the 55-year-old actor never hit her, tied her up or physically assaulted her, reports a website.

The Like a Player hitmaker further said that any report to the contrary is completely outrageous, malicious, reckless and false.
She also stated that reports of an alleged 1987 incident, in which he struck her with a bat, are “completely outrageous, malicious, reckless and false”. She labelled allegations relating to a December 1989 incident which purportedly resulted in Penn’s arrest as false as well.
In September, Penn sued Daniels for $10 million after the filmmaker and the Empire co-creator characterised him as an abuser in an interview.
