Los Angeles: Sam Smith and Charli XCX are among the nominees for the 2015 mtvU Woodie Awards.

The two British singers are pitted against each other and some other names like J Cole, Run the Jewels, FKA twigs and Porter Robinson for the biggest prize of the event, Woodie's Artist of the Year, reported Ace Showbiz.


Smith and Charli are also going head-to-head in the Best Cover Song category. The former's version of Whitney Houston's 'How Will I Know' and the latter's take on Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' are nominated alongside covers performed by acts like Kiesza (Hozier's 'Take Me to Church'), Lorde (Jeremih's 'Don't Tell 'Em') and Swift (Vance Joy's 'Riptide').


Beyonce Knowles and Rae Sremmurd are other nominees for the mtvU Woodie Awards. Queen Bey's '7/11' visuals is up for Best Video, the same title vied by twig's 'Pendulum', Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover's 'Sober' and Flying Lotus' 'Never Catch Me' among others.

Rae Sremmurd, meanwhile, is included in Best Emerging Artist category. The 'No Flex Zone' duo is battling against fellow nominees including Years & Years, Raury, MisterWives, Kygo and James Bay. Fans can vote for their favorites at woodies.mtv.com.

Winners will be announced during the ceremony set to air live on MTV on Friday, March 20 from the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
