Actor Sean Penn regrets that his chat with Mexican druglord El Chapo didn’t elicit expected buzz

OSCAR winning actor Sean Penn is breaking his silence about his trip to Mexico to meet notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. Penn says that he was hopeful to prompt a discussion about drug policy reform, reports a website.

“I have a terrible regret. I have a regret that the entire discussion about this article ignores its purpose, which was to contribute to this conversation on the war on drugs,” The Gunman actor said.
“My article has failed,” he added.
The star also accused the Mexican government of releasing details of his secret meeting, and defended the interview that he had given to a magazine. In October he had secretly travelled to meet the head of the Sinaloa cartel in his jungle hideout after months of earlier escaping through a mile long tunnel from his maximum security prison cell.
