During an appearance on a talk show, Affleck, 49, who is back with former girlfriend Jennifer Lopez now, said he’d started to feel trapped in the marriage with Garner. “I’d probably still be drinking. It’s part of why I started drinking... Because I was trapped,” the Argo director admitted of feeling unhappy in his marriage to Garner, 49. “I was like ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ What I did was drink a bottle of scotch and fall asleep on the couch.”
The Gone Girl star, who separated from Garner in 2015, added that they tried their best to save the marriage but it did not work out. “The truth was, we took our time, we made the decision… we grew apart.”
