Jimin was just a 17-year-old when he made his debut with BTS, and was part of the "maknae line” (among the youngest) of the group. He is the dancer and main vocalist of the group. He was the last member to join the group, with the shortest training period.
He attended the Busan High School of Arts, where he specialised in modern dance. A dance teacher at the high school suggested he should become a K-pop star, after which he joined Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee. He then moved from Busan to Seoul and transferred to the Korean Arts High School, where he was a classmate of his now band mate V.
Jimin has black belt in taekwondo.
Jimin became the only Korean artist to top the iTunes charts with all his solo songs in Venezuela and Turkmenistan these songs including 'Filter', 'Lie', 'Serendipity' and 'Serendipity' (full-length version) and ‘Friends.’
