Ali Fazal's upcoming international film Victoria & Abdul is adapted from Shrabani Basu's book of the same name. The actor
did not read the tome as part of prep, as he wanted to focus on Stephen Frears' adaptation for the big screen. He wanted
to go by the director's vision. Ali preferred to read other books, which chronicled the history of the Victorian era. He
portrays the character of Abdul Karim, a man from Agra who was appointed as an attendant to Queen Victoria, and later became her confidant.
