Following news of Jean-Luc Godard’s death, reports of the filmmaker having died by assisted suicide, hit headlines. Among the most influential filmmakers of the 20th century, Godard died on Wednesday, at the age of 91. 

His family reportedly stated that he died at home, and that no official funeral ceremony would take place. Meanwhile, Godard’s legal counsel confirmed a report in the French daily Liberation that the legendary filmmaker had died by assisted suicide.
