Hollywood actress Samantha Lockwood who has featured in movies like Shoot the Hero and Hawaii Five-0, is in Mumbai to explore acting opportunities in India. She was recently spotted meeting Hrithik Roshan and their pictures together went viral. The actress chats with mid-day.com about what she’s looking forward to in the city!

How did the idea of featuring in Indian movies come about?

I have seen Indian movies over the last several years. I never considered being in them though. If I were to do an Indian film, it has to have a more global approach, which is what cinema is now. There are actors in Hollywood from India and that’s how content is being created for a global audience. I was encouraged to visit India and attend some work meetings because I have a lot of friends in Bollywood. I was considering coming here since four-five years, and recently when I was in London, things just worked out.

What are the kind of roles you are looking at?

I’m here just to get an idea of what kind of projects are being made. There are a lot of filmmakers working in Hollywood and coming back here. There are a lot of projects that have both Indian and American actors. I’m more interested in doing action films. Hollywood is making a lot of movies, that for me is just a repeat of what has already happened, remakes and reboots. I’m interested in doing original content. I like the storylines in Indian cinema. If there are opportunities in Amazon Prime or Netflix, that have a global audience, those are the kind of things I’m looking to do.

Tell us about your past work and how did you decide to make acting a career?

In Hollywood, when you start out, you can’t be too picky, you just have to get experience. I’m lucky that the first time I was on set I got to do Lords of Dogtown. Shoot the hero with Danny Trejo and Jason Mewes was a film I got a lot of compliments for. I lived in Hawaii for five years with my mom, running a business. When I was there I shot Hawaii Five- 0, I played a guest star, an out-and-out action role. I look at working in Hawaii again in the future because that place is close to my heart. I grew up between California and Hawaii. My dad is a known actor and mum ran a commercial company so they inspired me to make it a career. I grew up on set.

Which places do you plan to explore in Mumbai?

The famous Ganesha temple and different religious sites excite me. I have visited some of the malls to buy clothes because I just came in from cold places like London and Vienna, followed by Maldives. Besides that, I’m just getting over jetlag.
