As the South Korean boy band BTS is set to mark its 11th debut anniversary on June 13, we look at the group’s relationship with food. While Jin and Suga are incredible cooks, and the others love to explore new cuisines, here’s a rundown of some epic moments where food was the star.

BTS and Indian food

BTS member Jungkook shared his love for Indian food during his latest live session on Weverse. While interacting with his fans, the South Korean singer spoke about his liking for chicken makhani and naan. He said, “Someone asked if I've ever tried Indian food. Chicken makhani. You know naan? You dip it in the curry and eat it. I really love that. Eating it with curry. God, I want to eat it so bad. It’d be delicious. I'm hungry.”

In 2022 Jimin conducted a session on Weverse with the ARMY when he asked for food recommendations. One ARMY suggested Jimin that he should try Biryani to which he replied,  “It’s Indian food.” This revelation left the desi ARMY awestruck.

In 2023 Jimin, V, and Jungkook visited an Indian cafe named Cafe Chai located on Jeju Island. Surprisingly the owner is Korean but serves delectable Indian cuisine. The menu boasts of chai, lassi, and Tandoori chicken. Needless to say, the maknae line couldn’t stop themselves from visiting.

Jin the great cook

Every BTS ARMY is aware of Jin’s cooking skills and his mukbang show ‘Eat Jin’ which can make anyone drool. The first BTS Festa in 2014 saw Jin prepare a massive one-pot meal loaded with cheese for the members to devour. Over the years he has cooked many items and conducted eating shows with the ARMY. They repeated the first Festa in 2020 where Jin cooked chicken and RM prepared japchae - glass noodles stir-fried with vegetables. Jungkook, who was hungry even after their lunch took the leftover chicken dish and mixed it with rice and mozzarella cheese which elevated the dish.

Jungkook’s recipes

Jungkook, who is a bonafide foodie and loves to explore delicious food, shared two recipes for a quick hunger fix that went viral in no time. Jungkook’s ‘Bulguri’ noodles are combined using Buldalk fire noodles with Neoguri noodles. Besides the two packets, you will need perilla oil and sesame seeds. His other recipe includes making Bulkdak noodles with mayo, cham sauce, perilla oil, and egg yolk.

BTS Run and cooking

Some of the BTS Run episodes feature the septet engage in cook-offs and the results are hilarious. From RM adding more salt, to Jungkook’s glazed potatoes getting stuck on the plate, to Jimin calling his mother to guide him during the Kimchi-making challenge, every scenario remains iconic to date.
