Jungkook Birthday 2023: From renting billboards to making charitable donations, here is how Indian BTS ARMY is celebrating the icon

India's BTS ARMY are going all out for Jungkook's birthday

Korean musical sensation BTS' youngest member Jeon Jungkook will be turning 26 on September 1. ARMY, the group's massive global fandom is gearing up to celebrate his birthday in style and are not shying away from making flamboyant preparations for the same in public. Preparations are underway in India as well -- it looks like fans are more excited about his birthday than he is!

In Mumbai, fans are gearing up to go all out for Jungkook's 26th birthday celebration. Over 200 fans will gather at Mira Roadโ€™s Lata Mangeshkar Natyagruha Auditorium not only from Mumbai, but also from Bhopal, Bengaluru, Delhi and Pune. โ€œIt is going to be a treat!โ€ exclaims Shital Sikarwar, founder of Tani Events and Entertainment, the media partner for the event.

โ€œThere will be several performances by popular Indian K-pop performers, K-pop-themed freebies, live DJ acts, games and merchandise, photo booth, stalls for Korean food, and of course, a birthday cake. This is an event where ARMY members and K-pop enthusiasts will come together to have fun, but for a cause,โ€ she adds, explaining that all proceeds from the event will be donated to Ankurโ€™s Children Home in Mira Road.

The event was planned by 30-year-old Riya Goon, a K-pop fan, and owner of BTS-themed restaurant Bang Tan Shefs. โ€œThe restaurant hosts [BTS and K-pop-themed] events like this across India. But we always try to weave in a good cause. I love K-pop, but at times, the fandom is so overpowering, that we end up forgetting our surroundings. This event, like many of our previous events, celebrates the music genre, but not without including the people and causes immediately around us,โ€ Goon explains.

The restaurant will cater for this event; the all-vegetarian menu will include their bestsellers such as veg pickled gimbap, exotic mixed vegetable kimchi fried rice and kimchi cucumber salad. Sikarwar adds that among the people that are expected to perform are Bhopalโ€™s Ryuxin, Kris and Rishi from Delhi, Japanโ€™s Koki, ย and Mumbaiโ€™s Axiom and Harshita Dave, among others.

Apart from this, billboards are being rented in India's cultural capital to showcase the 'Seven' crooner. A bus stop at Mulund is also giving a special shoutout to JK by displaying his name, picture and musical achievements on their board.

A cafe in Delhi is also all-decked up in Jungkook-themed decor and hosting a party for the singer. Both BTS and ARMY are known to raise money for charitable causes. Indian ARMYs stuck to their reputation and raised money for environmental protection under Jungkook's name. BTS also have a Japanese track called 'Your Eyes Tell' - and Indian fans donated to sponsor numerous eye surgeries. ARMY is truly a unique fandom!

It's not just in India that Jungkook is being fervently celebrated - cities across the world like New York, Seoul and Bangkok are pulsing masses of purple ahead of September 1. Find out how they are celebrating here. Indian ARMY wishes Jungkook a very happy birthday!ย ย
