Did you dream of a career in films?
I am a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. Getting intou00a0 the film industry wasu00a0 not something I had planned. I did work as a child artiste in Kaivara Tatayya. Baba was the first movie I signed as lead heroine. I am just done with my 10th Standard exams and plan to do my PU through correspondence.u00a0
You have taken a bold step by accepting a bare-all role in Preetse Preetse. How is the feedback so far?
I wanted to portray a glamorous character after playing the girl next door in Ganesha Matte Banda, which had Vijay Raghavendra as the hero. When I got this foreign doll kind of role in Preetse Preetse, I was happy to sign up for it. Director K Madesh explained that the scenes required me to be bold, and I was game for it. The audience response has been great, and they even started calling me Shakalaka Bipasha! When I went for the premiere show at Triveni theatre, I was mobbed.
Who is your idol?u00a0
Bipasha Basu. I am inspired by her looks and her choice of roles. I liked her in Bachna Ae Haseeno. She looks hot and she acts well. I also like Manjula, the yesteryear actress, and some day I would want to play the kind of tomboy roles she did in Kannada films like Nee Nanna Gellalaare.u00a0
More skin show equal more roles?
I think exposing is an essential part of the film industry. Since Kannada actresses do not expose, directors ask for Mumbai actresses. You need to be bold once you are in this industry.
Your link up with Prajwal Devraj is the talk of the town. What you have to say about the link up?
These are just rumours. I do not care much aboutu00a0 gossip. Prajwal is a good friend of mine because we worked together in Kencha. That's about it. For the record, I do not believe in love marriage and I would prefer my parents to choose a guy for me.
