Nallamuthukumar, who worked as Asin's assistant until a few months ago, is missing, according to his mother Sudalai Vadivu.u00a0
Vadivu, who lodged a complaint with the Chennai police last week, has alleged foul play. Inspector Subramaniyam said his team was in Mumbai to speak to the actress regarding her former assistant's whereabouts.
Mom's grouse
"Muthu met Asin during the making of the film Pokkiri. He was actor Vijay's assistant. Asin appreciated his way of working and offered him a job. He was very happy to work for her. Asin had forbidden him from talking to anyone but me because he knew all about her," said Vadivu.
However, things soured after he met with an accident, she said. "My son told me that Asin and her father Joseph were not treating him properly. He used to cry whenever he called me up. Now, he has gone missing. Please get my son from them. Perhaps, he knew too much for his own good," she said.
'Not true'
Joseph, however, rubbished these allegations. He told reporters, "Muthu had serious money problems. He seems to have borrowed heavily. He must have run away as he was unable to clear the loans. He had asked me for Rs 15 lakh, saying he wanted to set up a canteen in a popular college in Chennai. He was a good worker. I don't see why these malicious rumours are being spread about my daughter."
Asin added, "Muthu stopped working for me a few months ago. I had informed the local police when he quit because they've told film stars and celebrities to keep them posted when employees join us or leave us. I am too busy with my career to follow the lives of my former employees. I do my best to help others but it's strange that my efforts always backfire."
Maid for trouble?
Asin took Beulah, her housemaid, along with her when she shifted from Chennai to Mumbai. But Beulah's parents lodged a complaint against the actress, alleging that she had kidnapped their daughter. "I was working with Asin both as a maid and makeup artiste since she made her debut in films five years ago. I voluntarily went with Asin to Mumbai," Beulah had told the Chennai police, who then closed the case.
