After serious films like Aa Dinagalu and Slum Bala, Agni Sridhar chooses to entertain with Kallara Santhe, a political satire

Shooting for Kallara Santhe, a political satire scripted by Agni Sridhar and directed by Sumana Kittur, has begun.

Sridhar and Sumana's last outing, Slum Bala, which has Duniya Vijay in the lead, highlighted the nexus between corrupt politicians and the police in exploiting slum youth.

Though Slum Bala got good reviews, it failed to set cash registers ringing. "Slum Bala was not a flop. It was an average hit. In fact, this movie did better business than Aa Dinagalu, on which we lost Rs 10 lakh. But we made up by selling the rights to television," insists Sridhar.

What's new?

"Kallara Santhe is about how an ambitious youngster is exploited by shady politicians but he teaches them a lesson using non-violent means," he explains.

u00a0Certain that his film will "prick the conscience of even the most corrupt politician through humour", Sridhar promises to deliver an "entertaining" movie, not a "serious" one like Aa Dinagalu or Slum Bala.

Denying rumours that he will be ghost-directing the film as he has done the script, the screenplay and the dialogues, he says, "Sumana is immensely talented. She has already proved that she can deliver beyond our expectations."

Yash (of Rocky fame), Haripriya, Kishore, Rangayana Raghu, Adi Lokesh, and B Suresha have been signed on for Kallara Santhe. "We have the perfect cast. Yash and Haripriya are enthusiastic, dedicated and simply amazing," gushes Sridhar.

After Kallara Santhe, Sridhar will direct Shivarajkumar in a movie, based on a Hindu-Muslim story. "Shivanna plays a tough and sincere cop," says Sridhar, with a smile. You simply can't have the Hat-trick Hero playing anything but good cop, right?
