Screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad pens two scripts for son Rajamouli; director to choose between period war drama and modern-day thriller
Baahubali
Baahubali screenwriter KV Vijayendra Prasad is committed to developing 10 stories as part of a multi-film deal with Eros. In the latest development, mid-day has learnt that the writer has envisioned a war drama, and is keen that son, Baahubali director SS Rajamouli helm it. If the filmmaker greenlights the project, it will mark their reunion after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017).

An insider reveals, "It is a Telugu fictional period drama that will be mounted on a grand scale, along the lines of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Vijayendra sir is working on the final draft. He has already bounced the premise off Rajamouli."
The source goes on to add that while Rajamouli is yet undecided about the magnum opus, it is another script — a modern-day thriller — also by his father, that has caught his attention. The inclination stems from the director's wish to explore a story that is dramatically different from his previous works. "Though Baahubali was a fantasy drama, Rajamouli feels another period war drama from his stable will appear repetitive. He is keeping an open mind right now. It is only after both scripts are finalised in August that he will take a call. The film is likely to go on floors by mid-2019," adds the source. The production house declined to comment.
