Thalapathy Vijay

There is a massive buzz around Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film 'Leo'. The Tamil film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has been making a buzz ever since it was announced. The advance bookings for the film has already kickstarted in countries outside India. The team of the film are planning a worldwide release on October 19 and the advance sales are looking exceptional. Not just that, 'Leo' has broken record set by Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' in the UK market on day 1 advance sales.

On Friday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his X handle to inform the craze for 'Leo' in European and UK markets. "VIJAY - ‘LEO’: MASSIVE RESPONSE OVERSEAS… #ThalapathyVijay’s latest outing #Leo is REDEFINING HISTORY in the #Overseas market… An aggressive distribution strategy [#UK and #Europe distribution by #AhimsaEntertainment] has set an ALL-TIME RECORD among #Indian films, dethroning #Pathaan in advance ticket sales for *Day 1*," he wrote.

'Leo' has managed to keep the craze for the movie intact despite no promotions or an audio launch event which is customary for big scale Tamil movies. The success of Lokesh's previous film 'Vikram' is also attributed to the craze around the film. Vijay and Lokesh's 2021 film 'Master' was also a hit among the masses.

Meanwhile, Leo, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj marks Sanjay Dutt’s Tamil debut. He was previously seen in the Kannada film ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. Trisha Krishnan also stars in the film. She has previously worked with Vijay in Tamil hits — ‘Ghilli’, ‘Kuruvi’, ‘Thirupaachi’ and ‘Aathi’.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government has permitted theater owners of the state to run additional shows of the forthcoming Tamil movie, ‘Leo’ from October 19 to 24.  The makers of the movie had requested the government to allow two special shows (4 a.m. and 9 a.m.) on October 19 when the movie is released and one special show ( 7 a.m.) from October 20 to 24. The government in a statement said that one special show would be allowed from October 19 to 24 but the total number of shows per day must not exceed more than five. The movie is produced by SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio and co-produced by Jagadish Palaniswami.
