He was advised to spend months in the U.S. to refine it, but since costs weren’t covered, he declined. Fahadh admitted Iñárritu may have realized he wasn’t the right fit during their video call, but said he has no regrets

Fahadh Faasil, Alejandro
Fahadh Faasil is one of India`s most fascinating performers today, with memorable roles in films such as 22 Female Kottayam, Maheshinte Prathikaaram, and Aavesham, among others. In a new interview with Cue Studio, the actor claimed that he was in talks to play a role in an international production helmed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, the Mexican filmmaker behind films including The Revenant, Birdman, and Children of Men.
During the interview, Fahadh stated that it was his accent that caused the problem. He explained, "It wasn`t that he rejected me; it was the accent that he was concerned about. To improve my accent, I was urged to travel to the United States and stay for three or four months. But they weren`t prepared to pay for it. That is why I skipped it. Otherwise, I`d have gone running. The commercial factors would not have worked out. I didn`t feel enough passion to make a significant difference in my accent."
Fahad continued, "I spoke to him on a video call. It might be during that conversation that he also realised, ‘Oh, this isn’t the guy I’m looking for.’ Such things happen. There have been many films I lost during such meetings. All the magic in my life happened here in Malayalam. So, even in the future, if any new changes were to happen, I want them to come from Malayalam. I don’t think I will leave Kerala for that. If a project emerges that redefines me in some way, I want it to be in Malayalam."
