Months after the theatrical release of the Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys', music composer Ilaiyarajaa has sent a legal notice to makers for using hisn sng 'Kanmani Anbodu' from the 1991 Tamil movie 'Gunaa'. The song was used at a pivotal scene in the film based on a real-life story that is set in the Guna caves in Kodaikanal. After the release of the film, the song went viral on social media. 

'Manjummel Boys' director Chidambaram shared the news article in Malayalam on his Instagram stories without making any comment. He, however, shared the Tamil song 'Malarnthum Malaratha', composed by TM Soundararajan, from the Tamil movie 'Pasamalar'.
