When was the last time an actor said he preferred to play the villain over the hero? Despite portraying the baddie in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films, South star Kabir Duhan Singh opted to play the negative lead in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Bole Chudiyan. “I am not scared of being typecast because the definition of villain has changed with time. Rana [Daggubati] has done several films [in the negative space] that does not mean he is repeating his roles. Jaideep Ahlawat has been a game-changer [in that arena]. Several options have opened up for actors like me who are not industry kids,” said the actor, who is making his Bollywood debut with Shamas Nawab Siddiqui’s (Nawazuddin’s brother) romantic drama.

Unlike his roles in regional cinema, Singh won’t be seen going all guns blazing for this one. Playing Tamannaah Bhatia’s elder brother in the film, he said, “I play the boy-next-door for which I had to shed a lot of kilos. While he is protective [of his sister], he is not an aggressive character. For the first time, I am doing a film that is [an amalgamation of] action, romance, and comedy.”  While a major chunk of the film has been wrapped up, Singh still has a few more scenes to finish. ‘”We have three days of shoot left in Mumbai for the climax sequence. Everyone is waiting for the things to [relatively] get normal,” said the Jil actor, adding that it is a dream come true to share screen space with Nawazuddin. “It was such a fabulous experience working with Nawaz. He is a school of acting.”
