Mrunal Thakur is currently shooting for Lieutenant Ram, which marks her foray into Telugu cinema. Last August, the makers announced the project by sharing the first look of leads Dulquer Salmaan and Thakur. Since the love story is set in the ’60s, director Hanu Raghavapudi and the styling team did research to create looks that are reminiscent of the era. It is heard that they have modelled Thakur’s look on popular ’50s actor Madhubala, who was famed for her beauty.  

When the first look was shared, netizens had noticed the late actor’s influence on the leading lady’s avatar. Thakur says, “It’s an honour to be told I resemble one of the most beautiful actresses, Madhubalaji. This film became all the more special after being associated with such a legendary actor.” Besides the trilingual — Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil — she will be seen in Jersey.
