The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) plans to set up an enquiry on the fire that broke out on the sets of TV show 'Jamai Raja' on Saturday afternoon at Chitrath Studio. This is the second fire in the last one month. The last fire was on 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' set at Killcik Nixon Studio. Though there was no human casualty but property worth Rs 3 crore is said to be destroyed in the fire.

Dilip Pithva, general secretary, FWICE, added, said, "We are setting up a committee to enquire the cause of fire whether it was an accident or something else. Qubool Hai was being shot next door and if the fire had spread it could've been dangerous."
The FWICE has already written to various studios across the city to improve their fire safety system or risk facing penalty. "We are going to make surprise visit on film sets and studios to check out the safety measures. The first studio we are meeting is Film City, which is a government studio, asking them to improve their fire safety measures and then will follow it up with other studios," confirmed Pithva.
Nitin Desai, who owns ND Studio, has pleaded to the studios to have fire-proof material for building of film and TV sets. He said, "We at ND Studio need a proper well for water supply in case of any fire. We have fire engine stationed inside the studio. I feel every studio should be attached to the closest fire station of the area. A proper fire safety audit and inspection of studios should be made mandatory."
Namit Sharma, Zee TV programming head, informed us that they are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
